Having an unsubscription link in your email newsletters is mandatory for at least two reasons: to be compliant with regulations such as GDPR and to ensure that you keep your complaint rate as low as possible. Please keep in mind that your unsubscription links should be visible, and the unsubscription process should be fast and efficient.
How should I copy an unsubscription link from one design to another?
When you create a new email design for a campaign, you always need to add an unsubscription link. Here are three ways of doing this:
- If this is your first email design, you can add the unsubscription text at the bottom of your email, and insert the $unsubUrl$ Splio variable as a link in your text (or use your own unsubscription link if you have one):
- If you already have a design with an unsubscription link, you can simply duplicate the design and use the same link:
- And if you want to save time for your next designs, you can save your unsubscription row to be able to use it again, as many times as you want:
What happens if I don’t do this correctly?
We have noticed that some of our users use other, risky ways to add unsubscription URLs directly from one design to another. For example, doing a right-click and then copy-pasting the URL. This is not good practice because the final unsubscription URL is different for each design.
If you do this, the link will be broken and your contacts will not be able to unsubscribe. This may cause them to mark your email as spam or to send a complaint, which will alter your reputation with mailbox providers and consequently your deliverability.
In addition, you should know that Splio may delay or even block a campaign that does not contain a functioning unsubscription link, to avoid the deliverability issues mentioned above.
